Halko is a mega-cute Japanese idol with an impossibly cute voice. She is the voice actress of many cute anime and game characters:
She gave herself the nickname Halko, and it generally appears instead of Haruko when her name is written in roman characters. Sometimes you will even see ridiculous things like HALこ. The name is said to be inspired by the computer "HAL 9000" in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Her birthday is December 14th, 1977, she is 160cm tall, and her blood type is O. Her hobbies include "the internet" and collecting T-shirts.
Komugi is one of Halko's best known characters, originally from an anime called The SoulTaker. She got her own spin-off OVA series, Nurse Witch Komugi-chan Magikarte, which is funny, cute, and mostly parodies anime and Japanese trends. The first episode has Komugi battling Japanese ASCII Art monsters, to give you an idea. The episodes are aired on Anime TV before they are released on DVD. The first series, Magikarte, had 6 episodes, with the first airing on August 3rd, 2002, and the final airing on March 13, 2004. The second series, Magikarte Z, had only two episodes. The first aired on August 28th, 2004, and the second on August 20th, 2005. There are no plans to make any more.
Magikarte has been licensed by ADV Films in the USA, and they have done a pretty good job with the series. The ADV Komugi Website is well done and worth a visit. The English voice actress they chose for Komugi is not nearly as cute as Halko, but maybe I am a little biased. ADV has released Magikarte on two DVDs, three episodes each.
The series has at least 9 cds, 3 (art)books, and 4 video games based on it.
Komugi is 17 years old. She is 152cm tall. Her three sizes are 70-58-75. Her blood type is B. Her hobby is costume play. She is good at making costumes and hoola-hooping.
UNDER17 is the pairing of Halko Momoi's sugar cute vocals and Masaya Koike's wailing guitar. They primarily make music for hentai games, but it is hyper, cute and incredibly fun to listen to. They have released three "Best" CDs which I highly recommend. You can order them and others in the USA from YesAsia or cdjapan.
Sadly, on September 27th, 2004, a post on nakid.jp announced that Halko and Masaya would be parting ways. Their final live performance was November 20th, 2004, at Yokohama Blitz. The UNDER17 BEST3 CD includes the performance of Tenbatsu! Angel Rabbie from this show, and a DVD of the show was released on January 26, 2005. The DVD is titled UNDER17 FIRST LIVE TOUR FINAL「そして伝説へ・・・」 (ASIN: B0006SLEMO).
I created this site because I could only find two other English fan sites, and they were both very small. I love Komugi and Halko, Magikarte is my favorite anime, and UNDER17 is my favorite band. I am not especially connected or in-the-know and I don't speak Japanese, but I hope that someone finds this site useful.
There is some Japanese scattered around this site, but it is not essential, and you won't be missing anything if you can't see or understand it. If you are having trouble viewing Japanese characters, make sure your browser is set for UTF8 encoding and that you have Unicode support enabled on your operating system.
I have tried to include helpful information for words and phrases that might be unfamiliar without interrupting the main text. Any text that is a light pink color has additional information associated with it, which should pop up when you hover your mouse over it. Many of these are also linked to relevant pages.
